Q: Why should I choose Komi Organics meal plan service?
A: Two big reasons: The very best nutrition for your child and convenience for the parent/caregiver! We provide peace of mind by insuring that your child receives healthy, balanced meals that focus on optimal growth and cognitive development. We also provide the convenience of having these meals delivered fresh to your doorstep!
Q: Why is organic so important?
A: Because young children’s bodies are more sensitive to chemicals, pesticides and additives, it is especially important to make sure they ingest only the purest and most natural foods. Organic foods are also 30% higher in vitamins and minerals than their non-organic counterparts. Eating organic is probably more important in early childhood than any other time!
Q: Is every ingredient used at Komi Organic USDA certified organic?
A: About 98% of ingredients are USDA certified organic. In some instances we may use a spice that is unavailable in its organic form.
Q: How does delivery work?
A: Komi Organics will deliver anywhere in Manhattan south of 145th Street. When you sign up for our five-day meal plan we will arrange a drop off method that works for you. For example, we can personally deliver meals to you, or leave meals with a doorman. Deliveries will be made between 7pm and 11pm on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Q: What is the shelf life of Komi Organics meals?
A:Because we make all of our meals from scratch, without adding preservatives, they last as long as most home-prepared foods (2-3 days). Several items on our menu are available in vacuum-sealed bags, for extended shelf life (5-10 days).
Q: What about special diets?
A: We know that some of our clients require special consideration regarding a gluten free diet. Because of this, we offer gluten free alternatives to the two recipes containing gluten (Peach Noodle Kugle and Whole Grain Noodles with Veggie Tofu Sauce). We do this by substituting regular whole-wheat noodles with Tinkyada rice noodles, at no extra cost. Unfortunately we do not operate out of a peanut-free facility, and therefore our products are not suitable for those with peanut allergies.
Q: I’m worried about packaging waste. How does Komi Organics address this issue?
A: We are proud to use biodegradable, compostable packaging for nearly all of our products. A small percentage of items are packaged in vacuum-sealed plastic bags, which are BPA and phthalate free, and recyclable.
Q: I've heard bad things about Teflon cookware. What sorts of cookware does Komi Organics use?
A: We use only the finest cookware. Every utensil, pot, pan or baking dish in our kitchen is made from stainless steel, cast iron or glass.
